Current Election Results Will Lay the Foundation for a Developed, Self-Reliant India: Ravikant Garg

Lucknow: The assembly elections held in West Bengal, Assam, and the southern states—along with their results—will serve to advance the nation’s development and realize the resolve for a developed, self-reliant, and self-sufficient India. In this endeavor, millions of entrepreneurs, traders, and businesspeople across the country and its states will contribute with a spirit of dedication, acting as economic warriors.

Ravikant Garg—National President of the Bhartiya Udyog Vyapar Mandal (Indian Industry and Trade Association), a leading organization of the country’s entrepreneurs and traders, and a former minister—expressed these views during a press conference. In doing so, he accused past politicians and party leaders of plundering states that once served as the backbone of the economy, rendering them insecure regions plagued by poverty and unemployment.
The nation’s trading community has resolved to build a developed, self-reliant, self-sufficient, and Swadeshi (indigenous) India. This resolve is to be fulfilled with a spirit of complete dedication under the leadership of the country’s illustrious Prime Minister, Narendra Modi; these election results will undoubtedly prove instrumental in achieving that objective.

Ravikant Garg stated that the Bhartiya Udyog Vyapar Mandal is not merely a trade association, but rather the very backbone of India’s economy and distribution system. The trading community has always operated with the ethos of prioritizing “Nation and Society First”—a sentiment that is truly unparalleled. Driven by this very spirit, traders in the northeastern states have—since the dawn of independence—utilized their strength and capabilities to carry out their work, even amidst the most adverse circumstances. West Bengal, which historically served as a major hub for trade—where hundreds of thousands of industrial units worked to take their indigenous products to the global stage and established their identity as exporters—has, unfortunately, witnessed its economy and trade systematically dismantled over the last 50 years by those holding the reins of power.

Whether under the Leftist regime or other political parties, all have contributed to the ruin of Bengal’s trade and industry. Furthermore, the manner in which Bengal was plundered during the tenure of “Mamata Didi” has further exacerbated the state’s precarious condition. Across all seven states of Northeast India—particularly in Assam—the reign of terror and insecurity that prevailed… [text cuts off] The situation that prevailed prior to Mr. Modi becoming Prime Minister was characterized by separatism and instability. Being states situated in close proximity to the borders, these regions were completely vulnerable.

Sudhir S. Halwasiya—State Chairman of the Bhartiya Udyog Vyapar Mandal (Indian Industry and Trade Association) and a veteran business leader—stated that today, the country’s 1.4 billion citizens take pride in the fact that its borders are now secure and the nation is marching forward on the path of development. Through the guiding principle of “Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Prayas, Sabka Vishwas” (Support of All, Development for All, Effort of All, Trust of All), a collective resolve has emerged—shared by the Prime Minister and all citizens alike—to safeguard the national economy, generate employment opportunities, and transform India into a powerful, prosperous, self-reliant, and developed nation. The results of the current elections will serve to further strengthen the foundations of peace, development, and a self-reliant India.

The Bhartiya Udyog Vyapar Mandal is actively engaged in the task of fortifying the backbone of the economy. Through this initiative, over 200 million individuals across the country—including entrepreneurs, industrialists, small and large-scale business owners, traders, stakeholders in the Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSME) sector, as well as youth and women associated with startups—are being mobilized and organized.

State Vice President Amit Gupta, Joint General Secretary Hari Agarwal, and State Treasurer Kamal Fatehpuria announced that numerous programs have been formulated—and many are currently underway—with the aim of connecting women and youth with self-employment opportunities, bolstering the economy, and ensuring that the benefits of government schemes reach those in need. Special training campaigns have also been organized to ensure that the benefits of the various schemes launched by both the Central and State governments for women and youth reach the very last person in society. We have pledged that, every year, we will work to connect at least 20,000 women in Uttar Pradesh—and over 50,000 women and youth across the entire nation—with opportunities for employment and self-employment. This constitutes our robust endeavor toward realizing a developed, self-reliant, and indigenous India.

Senior office-bearers of the Bhartiya Udyog Vyapar Mandal (Lucknow Metropolitan Chapter)—including Gopal Mahesh Gupta, Avdhesh Kaushal, and Anil Kumar Goyal—were present at the press conference.
